Elvin Ronald “Deadeye” Chesnut, age 82 of Leesburg, passed away Saturday, January 6th at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 9th at Yellow Creek Cemetery with Rev. Mark Mayo officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Joey Fancher, Bart Lowe, John Chesnut, Dan Bell, Jeff Lowe, Tyler Choat.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Nabors Chesnut, son, David (Renee) Chesnut of Leesburg; daughters, Nancy (Jeff) Lowe of Centre, Mary (Dan) Bell of Glencoe; brother, James W. Chesnut of Leesburg; sisters, Barbara Singleton of Centre, Emmalene Allen of Hartselle; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Newton; brother, Hayworth Chesnut; sister, Theresa Chesnut and a grandson, Brad Lowe.
Mr. Chesnut was a native of Cherokee County, the son of the late Grady Elvin and Lessie Holman Chesnut, was retired from the Alabama Highway Department after 31 years and also retired from the Alabama National Guard after 30 years of service and was of the Methodist faith.
In lieu of flowers or food, memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans or American Cancer Society.
