Four Individuals Arrested On Drug/Trespassing Charges After Deputies Find Them Climbing The Fire Tower Near Little River Canyon

Four Georgia residents were arrested on drug and trespassing charges on Saturday at the fire lookout tower near Little River Canyon.

Deputies responded to a call on Saturday afternoon of people climbing the tower and located them upon their arrival. The responding deputies made the trespassers come down from the fire tower and placed them into custody.

Sheriff’s Office investigators recovered illegal drugs from atop the tower, including methamphetamine, marijuana, and opioid pills.

The four were charged with criminal trespassing, unlawful possession of marijuana, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

William R. Whipkey and Zach V. McBrayer, both 18 of Marietta, Andreanna K. Phillips, 20 of Rockmart, and Sara G. Brennan, 21 of Villa Rica, were all transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where t hey await bond.

Sheriff Shaver said, “We take trespassing on the fire tower very seriously because it serves as a public safety communication tower and it is very dangerous to climb because of deterioration due to its age.”
