Pickup Truck Crashes Through Summerville Courthouse Fence and Hits Registrar’s Office on New Year’s Eve

A pickup truck speeding through downtown Summerville New Year’s Eve barreled through the courthouse fence and crashed into the Chattooga County Registrar’s Office.

A BOLO had just been issued by 9-1-1 dispatchers shortly after 10:00pm after the truck had been reported speeding down Commerce Street at an estimated 90 miles an hour, just prior to the wreck.  The driver had to be extracted from the truck by Summerville Firefighters; he was transported by Redmond EMS to Floyd Medical Center in Rome for treatment.

The incident is under investigation by the Summerville Police Department.
