Law Enforcement Officers Will Be Out In Full Force Over The New Year’s Holiday

Alabama State Troopers in addition to local law enforcement officers will be out in full force over this New Year’s Holiday.

In 2016, Alabama Law Enforcement Agencies responded to 31 traffic fatalities between December 16th and January 1st. The department plans to utilize checkpoints and increase the numbers of troopers on the road in hopes to reduce the number of DUIs and traffic related deaths.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency offers these tips to help ensure your New Year’s is as safe as it can be:

– Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination
– If you plan to drink, designate a sober driver ahead of time
– Avoid all forms of distracted driving

It’s important to remember that buzzed driving is still apart of drinking while intoxicated. All drivers should be cautious even after Sunday night celebrations, since Alabama could see cold and wet temperatures at the start of the New Year.
