jmiks/iStock/Thinkstock(KIEV, Ukraine) — An assistant and interpreter for Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman was arrested this week after authorities learned that he was spying for Russia for at least two years.
A spokesperson at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed the arrest to ABC News on Thursday. Anton Gerashchenko, an advisor to the Ukrainian Interior Minister, told Interfax Ukraine that Stanislav Yezhov was “recruited by the Russian special services during his work at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington several years ago.

Gerashchenko said that there were “a lot of Russian agents” in the Ukrainian authorities who work for the Russian special services.
This summer, Yezhov attended talks involving United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May at 10 Downing Street. He served as Groysman’s interpreter at those talks.
On Thursday, May spoke during a visit to Warsaw, Poland, saying “I’m aware of the reports in relation to a Ukrainian individual who attended Downing Street earlier in the summer. The matter is for the Ukrainian authorities.”
“Security at Number 10,” May added, “is kept under constant review.”
