The average score is 3 Stars.  Cherokee Medical Center is one (1) of only two (2) facilities with in a 100 mile radius that received the 4 star rating.  [CMS reviews up to 57 quality indicators to assess each hospital in the area of safety, quality of care and patient satisfaction. “ We are very excited to receive this honor, for a small facility like Cherokee we have to work much harder than large facilities to obtain this high score. Our volume is low, so one bad score on these indicators can have a very large effect on our star rating. I am very proud of our physicians and staff at Cherokee. We may be small but we do what we do well. “ said Terry Long, CEO of the facility.

“We’re pleased that Cherokee Medical Center ranks in the top hospitals locally, as well as on the national front,” says Long. “We know that patients have more choices than ever before for their health care needs, and we’re pleased that Cherokee Medical Center continues to be the hometown hospital of choice.”

The www.HospitalCompare.hhs.gov site enables patients to make objective, apples-to-apples comparisons of health care providers and choose the doctor or hospital best matches their needs.

“This data is also helpful to our hospital because it shows us how we compare against other hospitals in the state, region and nation,” says Long. “High quality, accessible, and targeted health care services for the Centre and Cherokee County area – that’s what it’s all about.”
