Gadsden Man Arrested in Connection with November Convenience Store Holdup

A Gadsden man, Marqualin Deshun Sumpter, has been arrested in connection with the early morning robbery of a convenience store last month.  That 22 year old is accused of entering the business in the 1700 block of South 11th Street around 3:00am on November 22nd, and pulling a handgun before demanding money. 

The cashier handed over the money.  The gunman fired one round through the glass door of a cooler as he was leaving.  Fortunately, no one was hurt.  

Sumpter has been charged with Robbery 1st Degree and also Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling.

He is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on cash bonds totaling $75,000.
