Mr. Kenneth Gene Ray

Mr. Kenneth Gene Ray age 80 of Centre passed away Sunday November 5th at his home.

Visitation for Mr. Ray will be held from 4-6pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, with funeral service to follow, at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Woodfin officiating. There will be a interment service on Wednesday at Sand Valley Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kendra Pruitt, Joel Seagraves, Trevor Perry, Duncan Hellums, Wesley Pruitt, Bryan Young, and Randall Miller.

Mr. Ray is survived by his wife; Jaunita (Joe Bob) Ray, daughters; Pam Ray (Kerry) Sayre, Jennifer Ray Perry, and Kendra Ray (Bobby) Pruitt, all of Centre, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend and caregiver Edward Smith of Piedmont.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother Brance Allen Ray and great-grandson Finnegan Max Young.

Mr. Ray was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Sellus (Red Ray) and Jean Estelle Cunningham Ray. Kenneth (Trade Day Ray) was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and Founder of Rays Saws in Centre. He and Joe Bob were foster parents of approx. 300 children for a period of thirty one years. Kenneth served as a deacon of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the counting committee.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the McKinney-Vinto progrom of Cherokee County Schools. This is a county wide program that assists children with needs to attend school.
