Mr. James Thigpen

Mr. James Thigpen, 84 of Cedar Bluff passed away Saturday October 28th at his residence.

A memorial service will be 2 PM (CST) Thursday November 2nd at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with John Good officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM (CST) at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Angel, Jimmy Russell and Larry Easterwood.

Survivors include wife, Effie Fay Thigpen of Cedar Bluff; one son, Franklin Dwight (Jinger) Jolly of Cedar Bluff; daughters, Betsy Foster of Hickory, NC., Kathy (David) Skates of Rome, Ga., Joy (Max) Trowbridge of Bourbon, In. and Terri Canania of Cedartown, Ga.; also three grandchildren, LeAnne Lucas, Summer Demarro and Rhyley Summerville; and seven great-grandchildren Drew Boynton, Tyler Strickland, Garrett Strickland, Trantham Canania, Rachel Clark, Jameson Demarco, and Mckayden Demarco; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Bethune and Joy McGowen; grandson, Zack Canania.

Mr. Thigpen was a native of Auburn, Al. and a graduate of Auburn University and the son of the late James and Euphie Brown Thigpen and was of the Methodist Faith.

Jim spent his working career in construction equipment in Al., Ky., Tx. and Ga., along with traveling to many different countries. He retired on Weiss Lake enjoying his hobbies of fishing and hunting. He was an avid Auburn football fan and attended his first game at 6 months old in 1933.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the America Cancer Society.
