Cherokee County Work Release Inmate Who Fled Job Site is Now Behind Bars in Floyd County, Georgia

The Cherokee County work release inmate that left a construction site in Centre on Monday morning is now behind bars in Floyd County, Georgia.  At Around 10:30 Jimmy Wayne Blair Jr., 40, who is a resident of Silver Creek, fled that job site in a blue, 2003 Dodge 3500 flatbed truck belonging to his employer.

Blair had been booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on February 12th, 2016, and according to the Sheriff’s Office website he was charged with Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree and Attempting to Elude – with bond having been set at $10,500.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver has informed WEIS Radio News that Blair was arrested around 11:00 Monday night near Riverside Parkway and Turner McCall Boulevard.

He was taken into custody by members of the Rome Police Department, charged with being a Fugitive from Justice, Theft by Taking and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. He was also charged with having three Probation Violations

He is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail. 

Sheriff Shaver also stated that the vehicle taken by Blair has been recovered.
