All three major indices reach record closes in positive day on Wall Street

JaysonPhotography/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Astrong day for stocks on Thursday, with all three major indices closing at record highs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day at 22,775.39, up 113.75 from its open.

The Nasdaq gained 50.73 to a close of 6,585.36, while the S&P 500 climbed 14.33 to 2,552.07. Thursday marked the first eight-day winning streak for the S&P 500 since 2013.

Economists project the number of jobs added in Friday’s employment report will be lower than recent months. That is in part due to the people put out of work by the hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico in recent weeks.

And the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is working on new rules for payday and auto title lenders.
