Nell Lowery

Nell Lowery, 79, went to be with her Savior Monday night around 8:30 surrounded by her three children, friends and family. She fought such a hard battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia that had really magnified since May of this year.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy Payne (Tim), daughter Patti Stephens (Allen) and her son Jimmy Lowery (Marty). She is also survived by her brother Carl Joe Gilmore, Sr. She leaves behind her two grandsons, Tom Payne and A.J. Stephens (Caycee) and a special nephew, Joey Gilmore and his family and her great niece, Lauren Gilmore. Makala Ross was her adopted granddaughter. She had many wonderful caregivers, especially Kelly Bishop. We are so blessed to have them become part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Pearl Gilmore, her brother, Robert and sister, Mary Elizabeth and her special friend, Bryant Beason.

Momma never met a stranger and her love had no limits. From our childhood when she was taking a car load of kids to ballgames or working three jobs to ensure we never missed out on anything to our adulthood when she was our biggest fan and number one cheerleader. If you knew Momma, you loved her. She worked many different jobs over the years but we know her insurance was her true calling. She traveled all over and considered all her clients her family. She had a passion for missions and for the Lord. She loved playing the piano and singing at her church, Grace Fellowship. And oh, how she loved her grandchildren. Tom and A.J. were the apple of her eye and she loved spending time with them. She also had a lot of fun playing with her grand dog, Drew.

Funeral services will be at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, Cave Spring, Ga on Friday at 2:00 pm. She will lie in state from 1:00 until the funeral hour. Interment will be in the Howell Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00-9:00 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, GA. 30165.
