Centre Man Arrested On Drug Charges Following Single Vehicle Crash In Leesburg

A Centre man landed himself behind bars on drug charges after the vehicle he was a passenger in was found in a ditch in Leesburg on Sunday afternoon.

According to Investigator Jamie Chatman with the Leesburg Police Department, he received a called about car in the ditch at Holman Street and St Clair Street. When he arrived he observed the female driver passed out  of a possible overdose. The male passenger was also found to be in and out of consciousness, possibly drug related.

The female was transported by Cherokee EMS to Gadsden Regional for a possible overdose, according to Chatman.

31 year old Justin Dewayne Gossett of Centre was arrested after he was found to be in possession of Synthetic Cannabis which is commonly referred to as Spice.

He was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center at 5:36 p.m. on charges of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was being held without bail.

Chatman said that Centre Police and Sheriff’s Office deputies also assisted.
