DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Reports New Scam

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens that someone has been attempting to falsely associate themselves with the sheriff’s office in an attempt to obtain money from the unsuspecting victim.

The caller identifies himself as either an Investigator or Deputy, and tells the person that he has warrants on them for Failure to Report for Grand Jury however you can pay the amount over the phone.

They are using two different names – James Marshall with the phone # (256) 801-0885 and Jack Phillips with the # (720) 534-5137.

If you receive a call from one of these numbers or from anyone using of those names, please know that IT IS A SCAM.  Remember, never ever give out any personal information over the phone to anyone you do not know, when they have called you.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office nor any other law enforcement organization WILL EVER call you demanding money, or telling you to pay a fine.  If you have any doubt regarding the true identity of anyone claiming to be employed by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, hang up immediately and call (256) 845-3801 to confirm their identity.
