A teenager has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 42 year old man on Monday night.  Kevin Charles Jones – who was shot at 689 Sunset Trail just before 7:00 that evening – died several hours later at a Birmingham area hospital.

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin stated that Ty Jordan Kirkland, age 19 from Boaz was arrested Tuesday and charged with Murder.  He is currently being held on a cash bond of $100,000.  Kirkland allegedly shot Jones following a verbal confrontation at the residence.  An autopsy will be conducted on the victim’s body.

No additional information is being released at this time.

Agencies involved in that on-going investigation include the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, the Boaz Police Department, Albertville Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Etowah County District Attorney’s Office,  A-Med Ambulance Service, the Mountainboro Volunteer Fire Department, the Sardis Police Department and the ATF.
