Piedmont Joins Cherokee County Hurricane Relief Effort

Piedmont Mayor Bill Baker contacted WEIS Radio early Tuesday offering to send supplies for the Hurricane Relief Effort spearheaded by the Cherokee County Volunteer Fire Association. The Spring Creek Fire Department was contacted with firemen responding to receive the supplies. When they arrived, there was two trucks loaded, a pickup and a large dump truck. The dump truck contained 3 pallets of water and a pallet of bleach donated by WM Grocery in Piedmont along with numerous boxes of diapers, fans, canned foods, cleaning supplies and much more.

Members of the Spring Creek Department expressed their gratitude for the assistance to the effort. The large trailer will be loaded on Thursday night and pull out for Tampa, Florida on Friday to contribute to the relief of those who suffered loss from Hurricane Irma as she slowly moved across Florida a few days ago.

There is still time for you to contribute the effort by dropping off supplies at any of the 13 Volunteer Fire Departments throughout the County or WEIS Radio on South Pratt Street in Centre.

Items needed: Yard Tools, water, baby supplies including diapers, food, and wipes, fans, cleaning supplies, canned foods and pet food.
