WEIS Radio spoke with Sarah Bright with the Cherokee Electric Co op Monday morning and she informed us that crews were on standby should they be needed as the result of weather related power outages from Hurricane Irma.
High winds can create the potential for problems in regard to downed trees, in turn causing a problem with power lines.
Bright urges everyone to treat all downed power lines as being live wires – and never, ever touch lines that may be down across a roadway or anywhere else; instead, immediately call Cherokee Electric and make a report. That number is (256) 927-5524.
Remember, safety is the first priority.
