One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident occurring on County Road 19 at around 10:30 Friday morning. The vehicle traveled down a steep embankment before apparently striking a tree; Cherokee EMS, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Mt. Weisner Fire Department and Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene. A landing zone was set up at the soccer fields across from the Cherokee County Animal Shelter and the victim was air-lifted to UAB for treatment.
