Driver Injured in 18 Wheeler Accident on Highway 278 Thursday Morning

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency report on the 18 wheeler accident that occurred on Highway 278 during the early morning hours of Thursday has now been released.

While traveling along 278 close to Hokes Bluff the rig reportedly rolled over, coming to rest right side up.  

The wreck took place at 5:45am causing the road to be completely shut down for a period of time – with one lane of traffic being open afterwards until crews managed to finish clearing away debris and law enforcement conducted their on-scene investigation.

The driver of the rig, Ronald Perraut of Tuscumbia, was listed on that report as having been hurt in the mishap although no additional information was provided in regard to the extent of his injuries.  Perraut had to be extricated from the cab of the truck by members of the Piedmont Rescue Squad.  The Ball Play Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The roadway was fully re-opened to traffic at 11:20am
