Texas mom makes fashionable matching outfits for her and toddler daughter

www.lexallure.com(AUSTIN, Texas) — When Alexis Brown of Austin, Texas, started sewing this spring, she had no idea her hobby would turn into a booming business.

After turning an old set of sheets into matching mommy-daughter outfits this April, people were hooked.

“I had seen these old sheets that I had,” Brown, 19, told ABC News. “I was like, ‘wow, these would make some cute pants.’ I put it on the bed next to my daughter, and she was so amazed by it, and I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to make us some matching outfits. I made her a little dress, and I had to take pictures of it — this was too cute.”

The response on social media was so positive, she decided to make more.

“When I posted the mommy-and-me outfits, people were just loving it,” she said.

She said her 9-month-old daughter loves watching her sew, and adores being a part of the process.

“I can tell she really enjoys it,” said Brown. “She’ll look at my outfit and look at hers and realize they’re the same.”

So far, she’s only made four matching outfits, but said she’s been flooded with orders from people wanting her to sew custom creations for them.

Brown is working on new looks for fall and winter, and said she has dads asking for father-daughter outfits too.

“People really love the whole duo thing. I think it’s heartwarming,” she said.
