Cherokee County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments
The Cherokee County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments will be holding their Annual 9/11 Memorial Service on the courthouse lawn Monday, September 11, 2017. The service will begin at 8:45 a.m. A processional of Emergency Vehicles will leave Cherokee Plaza at 8:15 a.m. and travel along the Chesnut Bypass to East Main St. and then up East Main St. to the Cherokee County Courthouse.
The memorial service is held annually to honor the memory of all of those who lost their lives on that tragic day sixteen years ago, many of which were firefighters, policemen, and EMTs, as well as those members of the armed services who have lost their lives in the War On Terror. The event also gives the community an opportunity to honor our local First Responders who serve selflessly each and every day. The theme for this year’s event will be “Service Beyond Measure”.
The event is coordinated by the Cherokee County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments’ Honor Guard. Fire Departments, Law Enforcement Agencies, Rescue Squads, and EMS Providers from Cherokee County and surrounding areas participate in this service each year. All citizens are encouraged to attend this event!
