Three Individuals Arrested On Various Drug Charges In Etowah County

Three individuals have been charged with drug related offenses in Etowah County, according to Deputy Commander Phil Sims.

18 year old Jordan Beacraft of Gadsden is charged unlawful possession of marijuana 1st and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, 22 year old Bailee Vervynckt of Rainbow City is charged unlawful possession of marijuana 1st and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and 25 year old Joshua Miller of Piedmont is charged unlawful possession of marijuana 1st and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Sunday August 20, 2017, Glencoe Officers and Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputies were conducting a driver’s license checkpoint at the intersection of Green Valley Rd and Shadow wood.

A white Pontiac driven by Vervynckt pulled up to Glencoe Officer Kevin Overstreet and rolled down the window; Officer Overstreet could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Beacraft and Miller were occupants in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of three mason jars containing marijuana, digital scales, and a 9 mm handgun. Additional charges may be forthcoming related to the gun. On call ECDEU agent was notified.

All three were transported to the Etowah County Detention Center without incident. There bonds were set at $4000 each.
