According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency a 22-year-old DeKalb County woman was killed and another person was injured following a crash on Sunday-evening crash near Crossville.
According to ALEA Public Information’s Officer Curtis Summerville 22 year old Kayla Brooke Abney of Dawson, died when the 2011 Toyota Corolla she was a passenger in struck a tree.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on DeKalb County Road 405 five miles south of Crossville.
Summerville said that the driver, 26-year-old Megan Carson, of Albertville, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained.
Troopers said that Abney wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is continuing to investigate.
