Twenty-Five of Cherokee County’s volunteer firefighters recently completed an Emergency Vehicle Driver Training course. Firefighters from Cedar Bluff, McCord’s, Mt. Weisner, and Spring Garden Fire Departments were among those to complete the course.
The sixteen-hour course was developed by VFIS, an insurance provider to emergency service agencies nationwide.
Participants in the course had an opportunity to gain a broad range of competencies associated with emergency vehicle driving including a basic knowledge of proper emergency vehicle operations as well as the skills necessary for practical application.
McCord’s Fire Chief Rich Lindsey stated that this is just another example of our local volunteer firefighters sacrificing their time and efforts to ensure the safety of Cherokee County’s citizens and visitors.
