Voters in Cherokee County took to the polls in the Statewide Special Election on Tuesday.

On the Democratic side in the race for United States Senator, Doug Jones garnered 319 votes, Robert Kennedy, Jr. – 69, Michael Hansen – 27, Brian McGee – 9, Jason Fisher – 10, Will Boyd – 10, Charles Nana – 2 and Vann Caldwell – 3.

On the Republican ticket it was Roy Moore – 1099 votes, Senator Luther Strange – 1024, Mo Brooks – 172, Trip Pittman – 76, Mary Maxwell – 10, Randy Brinson – 9, Bryan Peeples – 7, James Paul Beretta – 4, and Jospeh Breault and Dom Gentile each receiving 1 vote.

Of the 2,854 votes cast in Cherokee County on Tuesday, 2,404 were Republican and only 450 were Democratic.
