One Injured in Sunday Afternoon Accident in Floyd County

The driver walked away but his passenger wasn’t quite as lucky – following a single-vehicle rollover late Sunday afternoon in Floyd County, Georgia.

According to Officer Nicholas Cruz with the Floyd County Police, a Ford truck was traveling southbound when it jumped the crest of the hill and left the roadway on the right-hand side – the driver then overcorrected sending the vehicle off the northbound side of the roadway, where it struck a fence and flipped, coming to rest in the 1700 block of Old Dalton Road.

The driver, 30 year old Tyler Smith of Rome, was unhurt; however, the passenger, Jonathan Smith, also of Rome was transported to Redmond Regional Medical center for treatment of what appeared to be a broken arm among other injuries.

According to the report witnesses stated that the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash, which took place just after 5:00pm.

That accident remains under investigation.
