Stockbyte/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — The United Nations Security Council has voted unanimously to approve tougher sanctions on North Korea, including a ban on exports worth at least $1 billion.
This comes after Pyongyang’s first successful tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the U.S. mainland.
The measure was drafted by the U.S. and negotiated with South Korea and China.
The sanctions ban North Korea from exporting coal, iron, lead and seafood products that are estimated to be worth more than $1 billion.
