Vehicle crashes into crowd in Los Angeles, injuring nine

ugurhan/Getty(LOS ANGELES) — A vehicle plowed into a crowd in the Midwilshire section of Los Angeles, Sunday afternoon, injuring nine people.

Eight patients were transported to hospitals and one man is in critical condition, according to the LAFD. One of the victims was an off duty LAFD firefighter in the crowd and he did not sustain injuries.

The driver has been arrested for felony hit and run, according to police. A sergeant in the Traffic Divison said witnesses caught and held him about a block away from the scene.

According to police in Los Angeles, a call came in at 3:47pm PT that a vehicle drove into a restaurant outdoor seating area.

The crash is being investigated as an accident and does not appear to be terror-related.
