WEIS Radio has been informed by TVA that the cause of the outage which affected the Key substation last Thursday night was a broken cross-member on a wooden transmission line structure, which pulled down the transmission line serving the substation, and as such, the situation was one that was beyond their control.
The outage affected an area from County Road 34 to County Road 29 in the Forney area and power was re-directed by local Cherokee Electric crews as TVA crews quickly went to work to repair the source of the problem.
TVA has made available to us a contact number for future reference to provide information to us, which we in turn can pass along to the public regarding information that may need to be shared in connection with any outages associated with TVA, and they stressed their dedication to the safety and comfort of those they serve.
We look forward to working closely with TVA, and other local utilities, in the future to keep the residents of our area informed in the event of any power outages and we appreciate TVA reaching out to help us better serve the community.
