Tesla(NEW YORK) — Tesla’s latest electric vehicle is getting ready to make its debut earlier than expected.
Elon Musk, the automaker’s CEO, announced on Monday that the first Model 3 will roll off the production line this Friday.
“Model 3 passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule. Expecting to complete SN1 on Friday,” Musk tweeted.
The sedan is touted as Tesla’s “most affordable car yet,” with a starting price of $35,000. The automaker says the Model 3 can travel 215 miles on a single charge and go from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds.
Musk anticipates having 100 cars by August and more than 1,500 by September.
“Looks like we can reach 20,000 Model 3 cars per month in Dec,” he tweeted.
