A high-speed chase that made its way through three different counties Thursday evening, both started and ended in Cherokee County, with the entire incident lasting only twenty minutes – from roughly 5:55 to 6:15pm.
When a red, four wheel drive Toyota pickup failed to pull over for law enforcement officials on County Road 19 in the southern end of Cherokee County, and the driver instead chose to flee, the chase was on. The pickup barreled down 19 into Calhoun County onto Highway 278 West into Etowah County, where deputies there then took the lead in the pursuit as the truck traveled north on Tomcat Road, eventually hitting County Road 24, going eastbound back into Cherokee County, where he was stopped by Cherokee County and Etowah County law enforcement.
We hope to have additional information from law enforcement regarding this story soon.
