One Injured in Collision Between Log Truck and Pickup Truck Thursday Afternoon

A wreck with entrapment stalled traffic on Highway 411 between Bagwell Road and Davis Road in Floyd County on Thursday afternoon.

According to Rome Fire Department Battalion Chief Gene Proctor units responded to that to find that a pickup truck had crossed the center line and struck a log truck in the rear axle of the trailer.  The pickup truck overturned into a ditch on the east side of the highway and in the process of hitting the trailer ripped the driver’s side door off the pickup truck. Hydraulic equipment had to be used to extricate the driver from the vehicle.  The tractor-trailer continued down the roadway several hundred feet, before finally leaving the roadway on the opposite side of the road.

The driver of the pickup sustained moderate injuries, and he was transported by Redmond EMS for further treatment.  The driver of the log truck was uninjured.
