The Spring Garden Fire Department, Cherokee County EMA, Piedmont Rescue and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to the scene of a one vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor trailer on U.S. Hwy 278 E near the Alabama/Georgia line on Friday morning.

Hwy 278 was completely shut down as crews worked to remove the wreckage. A significant amount of Diesel Fuel and oil had spilled onto the roadway and traffic was being diverted down County Road 300 back into Ga.

It took crews well over ten hours to clear the wreckage and remove the truck and trailer before the road was finally reopened just after 9:30 p.m.
