According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin a now ex-Etowah County Sheriff’s Office Deputy faces a charge of Custodial Sexual Misconduct.    

Anthony Ryan Bowen, age 40 of Gadsden, was arrested, after he allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a female victim while she was in custody in the back seat of a patrol car. 

He was immediately terminated from his position as a deputy upon his arrest.

He’s being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a cash bond of $100,000.

“A priority of this Sheriff’s Office is to always protect and serve.   This is the oath we take.  This sheds a black eye on the Office and law enforcement.  As soon as we were notified of the crime we took quick action to relieve him of his duties.  I want to personally apologize to the victim that an employee acted in this manner.  At this time we are investigating this case as an isolated incident.  However, if anyone feels like they have additional information please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (256) 546-2825.”
