A Hays State Prison employee has been arrested and stands charged with attempting to sell prescription drugs. Acting on a tip, Chattooga County Investigators monitored a parking lot along Highway 27 in Summerville, just south of Trion, where they witnessed a white SUV as it arrived and pulled to a stop. A woman then got into the vehicle.
Officers approached the vehicle where they confronted the woman and the driver, who was identified as Roger Doyle Frizzell – a lieutenant at Hays Prison in Trion.
Inside that SUV, investigators found ten hydrocodone pills wrapped in clear cigarette paper and following a brief interview they determined that a drug deal had been halted.
Afterwards a search warrant was executed at Frizzell’s apartment where detectives found a total of three prescription pill bottles in other people’s names containing Xanax, Valium and Tramadol pain relief pills.
As a result Frizzell was charged with four counts of Narcotics Possession in addition to one count of Criminal Attempt to Distribute.
He has since bonded out of jail, and according to a spokesperson at the Georgia Department of Corrections Frizzell has been suspended without pay.
