Nintendo(TOKYO) — Japanese video game giant Nintendo is holding a press conference on Thursday night (Friday afternoon in Japan) revealing details about its new console, named the Nintendo Switch.
The console, expected to be released in March 2017, was first announced in Fall 2016.
Details about the new console have been scarce, however a video released by the company shows that the console is meant to be used both at home and on-the-go.
As well, games for two of the company’s major franchises – The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario – are expected to be in development for the Switch.
A report from Bloomberg on Thursday said that Walmart’s Canadian website listed the Nintendo Switch for $399 (approximately $300 U.S.) several hours before the Nintendo event.
A livestream of the event, which starts at 11:00 pm Eastern, can be found here.
