Katy Perry’s New Shoe Line Is an 'Exclamation Point' for Your Feet

Timothy Kuratek/CBS(NEW YORK) — Katy Perry wants you to know what it feels like to walk in her shoes. In a new interview with Glamour, the singer explains the playful inspiration behind her brand-new shoe collection launching next month.

Perry says she went for a lighthearted approach, creating a line that reflects her vibrant personality. She divided her designs into different categories.

“There’s a star and moon group called SOLEstial,” she tells the mag. “Havana Good Time came from a trip I took to Cuba with all my girlfriends and has two styles with a cigar heel. And we have Pump Up the Jam, which is a bit nineties-based.”

So who’s her target consumer?

“Any girl who wants to have a little exclamation mark at her feet,” Perry says. “You can make it a whole look, or you can just accessorize [a basic outfit] with that personality piece. That’s what’s so great about shoes, you know? And I think that people who like my music will like the collection.”

Perry recalls getting her first pair of heels in the sixth grade, which she describes as “a shiny blue patent Chinese Laundry with a buckle in the front.” She adds, “I think I wasn’t allowed to wear them to my private Christian school.”

The Katy Perry Footwear line includes 40 styles ranging from heels to shower slides. They’ll be priced from $59 to $299.
