Piedmont Man Facing Felony Drug Charge in Rome

An Alabama resident was arrested in northwest Georgia on felony drug charges, after being pulled over for a traffic violation Monday.

34 year old Richard Shannon Dawson of Piedmont, was stopped on Highway 411 just south of Rome, with police finding a substance believed to be methamphetamine. 

After being placed in handcuffs, Dawson reportedly tried to run, but was quickly caught.

In addition to the drug charge, he was charged with Obstruction of Officers, with the Failure to Maintain a Single Lane, A Window Tint Violation, Texting While Operating Motor Vehicle, and DUI.
