John Michael Broom, of Centre, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, after a brief illness.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, George D. Broom Jr.; brother, George Patrick Broom; and nieces, Allison and Tracy Broom.

He is survived by his mother, Novella Whitt Broom; two aunts, Christine Meers and Frances Abel; and four cousins, Anne Coker, Pat Baker, Rebecca Franklin and Jennifer Henslee.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may instead be made to the Centre First United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Perry Funeral Home.
