A former employee of the West Rome Popeye’s is behind bars – charged with second degree arson, theft by taking and second degree criminal damage to property.
Kelvin Marquez Thomas, who had worked at the restaurant as a manager, had been wanted in connection with the September fire at the business; after the blaze two money bags were found to be missing, believed to contain around $1,500.
The fire caused extensive damage to the Shorter Avenue store, which remains closed.
He was booked in at the Floyd County Jail on Monday of this week.
