iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Wall Street closed higher Tuesday, but the Dow was still short of its 20,000 milestone.
The Dow jumped 91.56 (+0.46 percent) to finish at a record 19,974.62.
The Nasdaq gained 26.50 (+0.49 percent) to close at 5,483.94, while the S&P 500 finished at 2,270.76, up 8.23 (+0.36 percent) from its open.
Crude oil prices pushed up 1 percent with prices hitting over $53 a barrel.
Winners and Losers: Shares in Conatus Pharmaceuticals soared 141 percent after the pharma company announced it had entered a collaboration and license agreement with Switzerland-based Novartis.
Caterpillar Inc. helped boost the Dow by jumping nearly 2 percent.
General Mills’ second-quarter revenue was below investors’ expectations and pushed the stock down 3 percent.
