Tesla Owners Face New Fee for Hogging Supercharger

Tesla(NEW YORK) — Lazy Tesla owners have been warned.

The electric automaker has introduced a fee that will charge Tesla owners 40 cents per minute if they leave their fully-charged cars at a Supercharger.

“A customer would never leave a car parked by the pump at a gas station and the same thinking applies with Superchargers,” Tesla said in a blog post Friday.

Tesla said the fee would be waived if owners moved their vehicle within 5 minutes of it receiving a full charge. How do you know when your car is at 100 percent? The Tesla app will alert you when it’s almost complete, and then when it’s fully charged.

“To be clear, this change is purely about increasing customer happiness and we hope to never make any money from it,” Tesla said.
