Recovery Efforts Continue For Missing Man In Leesburg, Rescue Crews Implement The Use Of Drone Technology To Assist In The Search

The search continues for the body of Bobby Shore – the man who went missing after the vehicle he was riding in plunged into the Coosa River at the Leesburg Landing on Tuesday evening.

A number of Cherokee County Rescue Squad boats, Cherokee EMS Paramedics and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agencies Marine Police Division are continuing to search the waters near the Weiss Dam Powerhouse where a 2009 Saturn SUV entered the water just before 7:00 p.m. that evening leaving four dead, two hospitalized and one still missing.

Officials say that they have implemented the use of Drone Technology from other agencies in an attempt to capture overhead images of the area where the accident occurred.  Also, frigid temperatures and a high probability of rainfall tonight and into Saturday  are threatening recovery efforts.

Members of the Cherokee County Rescue Squad have spent countless hours and have worked extremely hard in doing everything they can to locate Shore – the Cherokee County Board of Education has provided a school bus which is being used as a warming center and several businesses including the Coosa Corner in Leesburg, numerous other organizations and churches have generously donated food and drinks.

The Leesburg Police Department is the lead agency in the Investigation with assistance being provided by the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

We will continue to provide frequent updates as recovery efforts continue.
