Wavebreak Media/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — On Wednesday, Nintendo entered the mobile gaming world by launching Super Mario Run for iPhone.
The app, developed by Nintendo and mobile gaming firm DeNA, is free to download, but that only gets players so far. In order to have full access to the game, users needs to pay $9.99.
In the game, players try to navigate Mario through obstacle courses while collecting coins in the process, which should sound familiar. Having full access to higher levels of the game gives players the ability to compete with other players and create their own kingdom.
Nintendo says the game will be launched for Android at some point, but did not say when.
