The Cherokee County Board of Education held two separate sessions this week and approved several personnel items.
During their regular meeting on Tuesday board members approved a lengthy personnel action sheet which included the retirement of Maria Denise Hilburn, CNP Manager at Cherokee County High School effective February 1, 2017.
Resignations included; Keith Tolbert, Electronice Technology Instructor at the Cherokee County Career & Technology Center – Tolbert will be accepting a full-time position at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. Other resignations were James Gilliland, Instructional Paraprofessional at Centre Elementary School, Amy Parker, Bookkeeper at Sand Rock School and Susan Wooten, SNP Worker at Spring Garden.
Certified Placements were; Jessica Walker – Half-time School Counselor at Cedar Bluff School and Joseph Hill, Math Teacher at Cherokee County High School.
Classified Placements included; Garrett Crane – Instructional Paraprofessional at Cedar Bluff School, Bridgett Beuckens – Special Aide Paraprofessional with Bus Aide responsibilities and Gina Lane – Bookkeeper at Sand Rock.
Approved Supplements were – Jeremy Goodwin, Electronic Clock Operator at Cherokee County High School – $15.00 per regular season game and $20.00 per sub regional game funded by Cherokee County High School Basketball.
An Educational Leave of Absence was approved for Amanda Monteith, McKinney Vento Liaison for 10 days.
During a very brief Special Called meeting on Thursday afternoon, the board approved an extended Leave of Absence for Cedar Bluff Bus Driver Robbie Stokes.
