Sewage Spill Reported in Northwest Georgia

The City of Rome reported a sewage spill, in the Armuchee area, Wednesday morning about 11:45.

A spokesperson with the Rome Water & Sewer Department, says that roughly 3,500 gallons spilled into a tributary leading to the Oostanaula River near East Big Indian Trail, and to the Swan Lake mobile home community.

The spill was reportedly caused by roots and grease in the sewer main – which was cleaned out by 1:00pm; removal procedures were also underway by that time.
