The movie has The Rock playing Mitch Buchannon — the role once played by David Hasselhoff in the series of the same name. A buff, by-the-books lifeguard, Johnson’s character butts heads with a brash new recruit, played by a pumped-up Zac Efron. The pair uncover a local criminal plot fronted by Quantico star Priyanka Chopra’s character, though she’s barely seen in this sneak peek.
The movie also stars Alexandra Daddario, who played Johnson’s daughter in San Andreas, as well as Kelly Rohrbach who, in a nod to the TV show, is described as looking as if “she’s always running in slo-mo.”
Jon Bass and Hannibal Buress also star in the action comedy, set to hit theaters May 26.
