ABC/Randy Holmes(LOS ANGELES) — Jimmy Kimmel Live host Jimmy Kimmel will host the 89th Academy Awards ceremony.
He confirmed the news in a tweet, writing, “Yes, I am hosting the Oscars. This is not a prank. And if it is, my revenge on @TheAcademy will be terrible & sweet. Thx to@alsformalwear.”
Coming off a widely-praised stint hosting the Emmys back in September, the ABC late-night host will take the stage on February 26 for the live telecast, which will air, appropriately, on ABC.
It will be Kimmel’s first time hosting the Academy Awards; the ceremony was headlined by Chris Rock earlier this year.
