6.9 Magnitude Earthquake Reported in Fukushima, Japan, USGS Says

USGS(FUKUSHIMA, Japan) — A 6.9 magnitude earthquake has been reported in Fukushima, Japan, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

Tremors from the earthquake could be felt as far away as Tokyo. Hazardous tsunami waves are possible for parts of Japan’s east coast within 300 kilometers of the earthquake’s epicenter, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.
