Newly appointed Leesburg Police Chief Brian Gilliland was officially sworn into office on Friday afternoon by Cherokee County Probate Judge Kirk Day.
Gilliland says being a police officer is something he has always enjoyed doing and that he looks forward to hitting the ground running.
Gilliland will replace longtime Police Chief Lanny Ransum who retired earlier this year due to medical reasons.
